
Matthew M. Shafae, Esq.
Matthew Shafae is admitted to practice law in all courts of the State of California and the District Court for the Northern District of California. Matthew is a member of the San Mateo County Bar Association and the Iranian American Bar Association. Matthew is a native of Belmont, California, and looks forward to serving clients on the Peninsula and the Greater Bay Area.
After working in other law offices, Matthew decided to open his own practice in November 2008. Matthew was eager to offer his own brand of legal services—services based on personal attention to the client’s goals, without unnecessary conflict, while charging reasonable rates. Matthew aims to serve his clients without the pretense and ego that many other lawyers possess. Matthew prides himself on being personable, competent, accountable and reasonable.
Matthew is a graduate of Golden Gate University School of Law, where he earned the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Civil Procedure I (model essay answer), Property I, Appellate Advocacy (model brief) and Evidence (model essay answer). Matthew was also a published writer and associate editor for the Golden Gate University Law Review.
During law school Matthew served as an extern to the Honorable Martin J. Jenkins in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Matthew also served as a Research Assistant to Professor Myron Moskovitz and as Teaching Assistant to Professor Rachel Van Cleave for Property II.
Matthew earned his undergraduate degree at UCLA, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.
Matthew speaks conversational Persian (Farsi) and conversational Spanish. In his spare time, Matthew enjoys playing soccer and basketball, riding his motorcycle, and performing on the guitar or bass.
